rip this joint

February 15, 2010

This is more of a suggestion than a legit post. But I think you all should do yourself a favor and spend an hour with the Rolling Stones by streaming their October 17, 1973 concert in Brussels. The Stones are, hands down, one of the best live bands ever and this excellent recording showcases them in all their glory. Ron Wood didn’t join the Stones on tour until ’75 and while I’m a huge fan of Ronnie, Mick Taylor (21 years old at the time!) absolutely knocks this one out of the park. And the incomparable Billy Preston on the organ adds an amazing depth and dynamic to the sound. I can’t think of many better ways to spend an hour. Although be warned, it’s hard to spend just an hour in Wolfgang’s Vault. It’s a serious rock & roll treasure chest. Enjoy.
